is known as a passionate leader in the area of English/Language Arts instructional
practices with a special emphasis on how to best implement the ELA Common Core
Standards in the classroom. A curriculum leader in her own district, Laura also
presents for a plethora of professional organizations. Her most recent appearances
include: the Suburban Council of the International Reading Association,
the Illinois Reading Council annual Convention,
International Reading Association, Illinois Association of Title I Directors
and most recently conferences sponsored by the Illinois State Board of
Education focusing on the Common Core Standards.
Her expertise is well-known and well-respected by
teachers and administrators around the state. Her recent doctoral studies bring
together the ELA CCSS with well researched methods of literacy instruction.
Today’s presentation will provide participants with awareness and implications
for instruction within shifts of thinking in the ELA Common Core Standards.
Strategies that are aligned to the Standards will be discussed and
demonstrated. Together we will “revision” education for today’s students to be
productive citizens for tomorrow’s world.
