National-Louis University, Lisle

Laura Beltchenko is known as a passionate leader in the area of English/Language Arts instructional practices with a special emphasis on how to best implement the ELA Common Core Standards in the classroom. A curriculum leader in her own district, Laura also presents for a plethora of professional organizations. Her most recent appearances include: the Suburban Council of the International Reading Association,

the Illinois Reading Council annual Convention, International Reading Association, Illinois Association of Title I Directors and most recently conferences sponsored by the Illinois State Board of Education focusing on the Common Core Standards.

Her expertise is well-known and well-respected by teachers and administrators around the state. Her recent doctoral studies bring together the ELA CCSS with well researched methods of literacy instruction. Today’s presentation will provide participants with awareness and implications for instruction within shifts of thinking in the ELA Common Core Standards. Strategies that are aligned to the Standards will be discussed and demonstrated. Together we will “revision” education for today’s students to be productive citizens for tomorrow’s world.
